Pharmacy Practice Residency Program

North Memorial's Department of Pharmacy Services provides care in the inpatient setting 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. The department utilizes a decentralized pharmacy model. Department clinical services include, but not limited to, pharmacokinetic monitoring of aminoglycosides and vancomycin; renal dose adjustment program; intravenous to oral medication conversion program; parenteral nutrition and antibiotic management.

Through our Pharmacy Practice Residency Program, we provide quality education for the pharmacists of tomorrow. The residency will offer a full range of experiences in areas including:

  • Medical/surgical intensive care
  • Cardiovascular intensive care
  • Trauma and neurosurgical /neurology intensive care
  • Infectious diseases
  • Hematology/oncology
  • Pain management
  • Administration

In addition, residents will have the opportunity to complete a quality improvement project, precept doctor of pharmacy students on rotation from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, and provide in-services to pharmacy and other health care providers. And it's not just residents who benefit from the program - North Memorial's staff pharmacists are actively involved in teaching, helping to keep them at top performance.
