About North Memorial Ambulance
North Memorial Ambulance has served the Brainerd Lakes area since 1987, responding from stations in Brainerd, Aitkin, Crosslake, Longville and Pine River. Our service area covers about 3,500 square miles and includes as many as 400,000 people during the busy summer months. The Brainerd Region services the single largest service area in the state of Minnesota, with seven advanced life support (ALS) ambulances staffed 24 hours a day.

Our staff of more than 70 people is comprised of paramedics, EMTs, mechanics and office professionals. Our local ambulance fleet is comprised of more than a dozen vehicles (mostly Type III and some Type II rigs), manufactured by Road Rescue and Osage.

North Memorial Ambulance is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS); we're one of few EMS agencies in the upper Midwest with this distinction. CAAS accreditation is a voluntary process through which we assure quality in many areas of emergency care. We participate in a periodic review of our operations by independent health care professionals.

We're affiliated with, and receive medical direction from, North Memorial Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center in Minneapolis.

Community Service
In addition to emergency medical care, we provide employment for local residents and support for area businesses. We recognize the importance of educating citizens about our services through outreach presentations and station tours for schools and the general public. We're proud of the strong working relationships we've developed with area public safety and first responder agencies and are proud to have provided many of them with EMS training and equipment donations.

EMS Education and Training
North Memorial EMS Education offers one of the most expansive, successful training programs of its kind. And while we're based in the Twin Cities, we offer our most popular courses to care providers in greater Minnesota through regional training centers like the one right here in Brainerd! These courses include:

  • First Responder (Initial and Refresher)
  • EMT-Basic (Initial and Refresher)
  • CPR and AED Training (Initial, Instructor and Refresher)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS - Initial and Refresher)
